Front (at left) and back (above) of the seal.
The seal is rather damaged and evidently proved difficult to photograph. It bears the motif of a shield, within which is what looks like a bird or bird headed creature in spreadeagled posture. The inscription around the edge is mostly missing, and what is left is indecipherable. There is no counterseal on the back, although Rob Schäfer informs me that two fingerprints are clearly visible in the wax. These are a bit hard to make out on the photograph, but the concept of medieval fingerprints is rather intriguing.
