Click on the button beside each word to indicate how it is abbreviated in the text.
Abbreviations are not very prolific and mainly consist of simple contractions. The Tironian symbol for the Latin et is used as an abbreviation for and, so an abbreviation form from one language has been appropriated into another. The use of sca for sancta in sancta maria is one of the nomina sacra terms, and in this case the Latin word has been conscripted into an English document. This is not so unusual.
