Paleography Exercises
Inscription on a 15th century brass funerary memorial in Harpham, Yorkshire.
	This brass to Thomas de St Quintin, who died in 1445, lies on the floor of the St Quintin chapel in the parish church of Harpham in East Yorkshire. He is depicted as a knight in the full plate armour of the period. The figure formerly had a collar made of some type of inlay, possibly representing an SS collar which indicated Lancastrian affinities. The inscription beneath his feet is in Gothic textura or Black Letter Gothic script and records his date of death and commends his soul to God's mercy.
